The contract was approved by the board of "Uzavtosanoat" on December 12. Information about this was published the day before on the Unified Portal of Corporate Information.
At the next stage, the contract with BCG must be approved at the Center for Comprehensive Project Expertise and Import Contracts.
In early December, the head of "Uzavtosanoat," Ulugbek Rozukulov, discussed the preparation of a development program for the automotive industry until 2030. According to him, the document takes into account current market conditions and international experience, and its creation involved extensive collaboration with BCG.
The program was presented to the president at a meeting held at the end of November. Among the key objectives are the creation of up to 1 million jobs in the automotive industry and related sectors, as well as the production of 450,000 vehicles and an increase in exports to 700 million dollars by 2025.
Additionally, there are plans to strengthen cooperation and localize the production of automotive components. The first results of the program's implementation are expected to be presented in February 2025.
It is worth noting that BCG has been offering its services in the Uzbekistan market since 2022.
It is also important to remember that there are plans in Uzbekistan to reduce the cost of production for BYD electric vehicles. This will be facilitated by the localization of parts for vehicles.
