As the organizers noted, the labeling system allows for the monitoring of each product unit at every stage – from production to store shelves. This is beneficial for all stakeholders involved. By increasing the transparency of processes and gradually legitimizing the market, businesses gain fair competition, the government benefits from higher tax revenues, and consumers receive quality guarantees.
This is made possible by the fact that each bottle produced receives a unique Data Matrix code. This code contains information about the production date, expiration date, manufacturer, and other product characteristics.
"Before making a purchase, consumers can use the Asl Belgisi app, available for Android and iOS. All they need to do is scan the labeling code. For example, for Montella water, one can see the manufacturer – Navruz International Corp, the production date, expiration date, and additional information," said Dilsooz Akrojonova, manager of the "Water and Soft Drinks" product group at CRPT TURON.
The application of codes on each bottle is the first phase of the digital labeling project. The company is now preparing for the next phase – the implementation of a complete aggregation system, which involves grouping products into collective and transport packaging.
It is worth noting that starting from March 1, 2024, water and soft drinks in Uzbekistan will be subject to mandatory digital labeling. This will become an important tool in the fight against the illegal circulation of products, enhancing the quality of goods and protecting consumer rights.
For reference. Navruz International Corp was founded in 2003 and is one of the leading producers of bottled water and beverages in Uzbekistan. It produces up to 1.5 million units of products daily.
