The State Customs Service of Turkmenistan has reported that reconstruction efforts have been carried out as part of the country's customs authority development program for 2022 – 2028, aimed at enhancing transit corridors and modernizing border infrastructure.
The total area of the customs facility has been expanded from 5.2 to 10 hectares. The new inspection pits allow for customs checks on 16 vehicles simultaneously.
The throughput capacity has increased from 250 to 500 vehicles in each direction, enabling the processing of up to 1,000 cars per day.
Additionally, as part of the reconstruction, the use of digital technologies in customs processes will be expanded.
It is worth noting that the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and the Chairman of the People's Council of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov, have agreed to increase the supply of Turkmen natural gas to Uzbekistan and discussed the implementation of joint gas projects in the short term.
