Узбекистан и ИБР заключили соглашения на сумму $299 млн для обновления образовательной системы и инфраструктуры дорог.

Uzbekistan and the Asian Development Bank have signed agreements worth $299 million to upgrade education and infrastructure.

The government of Uzbekistan and the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) have signed two agreements totaling $299 million, aimed at modernizing the education system and enhancing the road infrastructure.

The first project, funded with $160.25 million, aims to enhance the quality of education in Uzbekistan and is being implemented in partnership with the Global Partnership for Education (GPE).

This initiative includes the construction of 58 modern inclusive schools equipped with laboratories, digital infrastructure, and new furniture, as well as the establishment of 2,431 classrooms.

Additionally, the project involves updating curricula with a focus on competency-based learning, improving teacher training and student assessment systems, and implementing inclusive education models.

It is expected that by 2026, this initiative will provide equal access to quality education for all children in the country, laying a strong foundation for their future.

The second agreement allocates $138.8 million for the reconstruction and modernization of the A373 highway, which is one of Uzbekistan's key transportation corridors.

The implementation of this project will reduce travel time by 50%, cutting it down to 30 minutes by 2030, and decrease the number of traffic accidents by 40%, bringing the annual total down to 24 incidents. Plans include upgrading the existing four-lane road, significantly enhancing its capacity.

These measures will not only improve transportation accessibility and road safety but also promote trade, tourism, and strengthen regional integration.
