ЦБ поделился подробностями о намерении ввести ограничения на количество банковских карт, разрешённых на одного человека.

The Central Bank has revealed details about the proposed limit on the number of bank cards per individual.

Uzbekistan, Tashkent – Podrobno.uz. The Central Bank of Uzbekistan has announced the potential introduction of limits on the issuance of bank cards. Experts are considering the possibility of restricting the number of cards that can be issued to one individual taxpayer identification number (PINFL) to a maximum of five cards at a single bank and 20 across all banks.

It is expected that the limit will apply to both physical and virtual cards. Cards with accounts in foreign currency will not be affected.

This information was released in response to circulating reports online suggesting that individuals would be allowed to open only one card.

"This information is not accurate," emphasized the Central Bank.

The regulator also noted that the potential new measures are intended as a temporary solution to prevent fraud and suspicious activities related to bank cards.

Statistics show that 97% of cardholders have up to five cards, while 3% have up to 20. Only 0.03% own more than this amount. Additionally, analysis revealed that some accounts opened in the names of individuals are often involved in fraudulent activities, mostly without the knowledge of their owners.

Recall that in November, the Central Bank of Uzbekistan introduced a new procedure for issuing online loans to combat fraud. It was planned that this would be in effect for five months. Recently, it became known that these measures may continue after the temporary period expires.
