Uzbekistan, Tashkent – According to AN Podrobno.uz, efforts are underway in Uzbekistan to reduce the production costs of BYD electric vehicles. This initiative will be supported by the localization of components for the cars, reports a correspondent from Podrobno.uz.

This was mentioned during the presentation of the updated automotive industry development plan for 2025 to the president. The main focus of this document is on increasing production volumes and improving product quality. More than 400,000 vehicles are sold annually in the country, and with the rise in income levels, this demand is expected to remain stable.

Special emphasis has been placed on enhancing the competitiveness of automotive manufacturing enterprises ahead of Uzbekistan's accession to the WTO. It was noted that this will necessitate quality improvements for local producers. The Localization Support Center has been tasked with increasing production volumes and cooperation with regional enterprises.

Export remains a key focus area. In recent years, over 40,000 automotive components have been exported to neighboring countries. Next year, there are plans to boost exports to $700 million. The president also highlighted the importance of promoting Samarkand's bus and freight transport manufacturers in international markets.
