He also emphasized that the support from the ADB is aimed at strengthening the resilience of the region's energy systems and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
The allocated funds will be used for the construction of a 22-kilometer 500-kilovolt transmission line in northern Tajikistan. The new line will connect the "Sughd" substations in Tajikistan and "New Syrdarya" in Uzbekistan, which will enhance the capacity for electricity export and import among the countries in the region—Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan—while also reinforcing the infrastructure to prevent outages.
Additionally, the project will prepare Tajikistan's energy system for regulating power and frequency flows, facilitating the integration of renewable energy sources. In the long term, this project will become a key component in the transmission of electricity from the Rogun Hydropower Plant in Tajikistan.
