Apple is developing a more conversational version of its voice assistant Siri to compete with ChatGPT from OpenAI and other advanced AI assistants. This information comes from Bloomberg, citing sources familiar with the development.
Siri will be able to engage in more natural dialogues with users, similar to interactions with AI assistants like ChatGPT from OpenAI and Google Gemini. This enhancement will enable Siri to understand not only specific commands but also maintain full conversations, making its use more intuitive and user-friendly.
The new Siri will also feature expanded integration capabilities with third-party applications through the App Intents technology. As a result, users will be able to manage various app functions with greater precision and convenience.
According to sources from Bloomberg, the updated Siri is currently being tested on iPhone, iPad, and Mac devices as a standalone application, but it is expected to replace the current assistant interface in the future.
The technology is set to be announced in 2025 as part of the release of iOS 19 and macOS 16. A full launch of the new Siri for users is planned for spring 2026.
Apple declined to comment on this matter, but the company has previously stated its intention to make Siri more efficient with the help of the new Apple Intelligence platform, which debuted in October 2024.
Earlier, Spot reported that Apple introduced a new iPad mini with support for Apple Intelligence.
