The administration of the Yakkasaray district has announced plans to renovate the Askia market located within its territory.
The project presentation took place on November 16 at the Ateca Hotel Suites complex. The head of the district administration, Nilufar Allabergenova, emphasized the need for reconstruction due to the inconveniences faced by market visitors.
In particular, the parking area near the market is unable to handle the current flow of customers. Additionally, some vendors struggle with adverse weather conditions (rain, snow) due to the open-air layout.
Negotiations are currently underway with several potential investors who have expressed interest in participating in the renovation of the complex. Through auctions on the E-auksion platform, new entrepreneurs are expected to be attracted to work in the future complex.
The company that proposed the acquisition of the complex has reached an agreement with the Tashkent administration, the city management of AUGA, and the Center for Municipal Asset Management. The plans include the construction of:
- an eco-market with an area of at least 3,000 sq. m.;
- a cold storage facility of 1,200 sq. m.;
- a multi-story parking lot with 400 spaces.
The new shopping complex will be equipped with escalators and ramps for people with limited mobility, as well as modern restrooms. The market will feature public Wi-Fi access points, bike paths, green spaces, and entertainment venues.
Additionally, a 4-star hotel is planned to be built nearby the market. The total cost of the project is estimated at $150 million, which will be covered by direct foreign investments.
In January of this year, Shavkat Mirziyoyev was briefed on plans for the development of trade and tourist infrastructure. The markets in historical cities are set to be updated in accordance with national culture and regional characteristics.
