The event is organized by Beeline Uzbekistan, which is part of VEON Group. It is aimed at owners and top managers of companies, as well as specialists in compliance with legislative and ethical standards.

The primary objective of compliance departments is to prevent risks associated with potential violations of legislation, organizational norms, and standards. These departments are integrated into the structure of leading companies worldwide, including those in Uzbekistan. The significance of their work cannot be overstated—instances of corruption, theft, and abuse in the workplace pose threats not only from a financial perspective but also carry serious reputational risks. The exchange of unique practices for protection against such threats is of particular importance.

VEON Group companies have accumulated substantial experience in the field of compliance and strive to share ideas for ethical business practices. In 2022, Beeline Uzbekistan initiated the I Open Forum on "Business Compliance." The November 2024 forum continues this strategy.

“Compliance is a multifaceted area, and each event has its own characteristics. This year, we will focus on relationships with partners and risk reduction in this sphere. In particular, we will discuss the 'red flags' when vetting counterparties. We are confident that this information will be valuable for representatives of Uzbek companies and will aid in the development of their own compliance programs,” commented Alina Akchurina, head of the ethics and compliance department at Beeline Uzbekistan.

Key topics of the forum:

  • methods for effective partner vetting;
  • AML/CFT measures (anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing);
  • compliance with sanctions regimes.

International experts from VEON Group will participate in the forum—Gabriela Gutierrez, Director of Ethics and Compliance, and Sarvat Salauddin, Chief Investigations Officer. They will share their experiences and discuss international compliance practices.

The forum will take place on November 20 at the Courtyard by Marriott hotel in Tashkent, starting at 9:30 AM. Participation is free. Registration is open until November 15 via the link. It will also be possible to join the event remotely via Teams.
