A former presidential candidate from Uzbekistan has been appointed to a new position.

Narzullo Naimovich Oblomurodov, recognized for his active public and political engagement, has been appointed as the rector of Tashkent State Agrarian University (TashGAU). This was reported by the press service of the Ecological Party of Uzbekistan.

Since June 2024, Oblomurodov held the position of vice-rector for academic affairs at TashGAU. Prior to that, he served as vice-rector for science and innovation at the Tashkent Financial Institute. His professional background also includes serving as Deputy Minister of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change.

Narzullo Oblomurodov is widely recognized as the candidate from the Ecological Party in the 2021 presidential elections. In that election, he received 4.1% of the votes, amounting to 670,641 voter ballots.

Oblomurodov's appointment as rector of TashGAU highlights his significant contribution to the development of education and science in Uzbekistan. His expertise and knowledge in ecology and innovation will undoubtedly be beneficial for the further advancement of the university and the training of highly qualified specialists in the agrarian sector.
