A delegation from Mongolia discussed energy reforms with World Bank experts in Tashkent.

World Bank officials presented their assessments of energy sector reforms since 2017, highlighting Uzbekistan's significant efforts and the Bank's role in implementing these reforms. They specifically focused on the development of wholesale and retail electricity markets, modernization of electricity transmission infrastructure, and attracting private investments in the renewable energy sector.

The discussions also covered the Uzbek government's efforts to enhance the centralized heating supply system, improve energy efficiency, and transition to a "green" economy. The World Bank continues to provide technical assistance and implement funded projects in these areas.

The delegation expressed interest in strengthening knowledge exchange between Mongolia, Central Asia, and countries receiving assistance from the World Bank. Bank representatives emphasized their readiness to continue supporting this process as part of their work to enhance the capacity of client countries.
