Member of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Sergey Mironov, has called for the introduction of a visa regime for citizens of Uzbekistan. The politician made this statement on his page on the social network X.
The deputy expressed his opinion following a message from the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Kazan to its citizens, which included a call to refrain from serving in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
“The Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Kazan urged Uzbeks not to join the ranks of the Russian Army. But why didn’t they call for not receiving maternity capital? Not to enjoy other benefits? That’s acceptable! But defending the country that feeds you is not allowed. A visa regime! That’s it! We don’t need such 'citizens',” stated Sergey Mironov.
His post has sparked significant public reaction. It is important to note that the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, like the legislation of many countries, including Uzbekistan, provides for liability for serving in the army of a foreign state without the appropriate permission.
