Shavkat Mirziyoyev has reviewed the general plan for Tashkent up to 2045, as reported by the press service of the head of state.

Currently, the capital covers an area of 43,822 hectares, with a population exceeding 3 million people. In the future, these figures are expected to rise. The general plan was developed by "ToshkentboshplanLITI" in collaboration with companies from Singapore, the United Kingdom, Turkey, Germany, China, and the Netherlands.

According to the general plan, Tashkent will be divided into three zones:

  • conservation, ensuring the preservation of cultural heritage sites, historical places, buildings, and green spaces;
  • reconstruction with the possibility of additional construction based on master plans;
  • renovation, where new construction will occur in place of dilapidated housing and old buildings, along with their repair.

The general plan addresses environmental and transportation issues in the capital. Specifically, it is planned to triple the area of green spaces in Tashkent and its surroundings, bringing it to 25,000 hectares. As a result, the green space per capita will double to 6 square meters.

Additionally, the implementation of the "15-minute city" principle is planned. During this time, residents will be able to reach the nearest kindergarten, school, hospital, commercial facilities, and service points from their place of residence.

The public transport network will also be expanded, increasing the number of hubs and stops, constructing new roads, and organizing bus rapid transit routes. The general plan includes measures to enhance the capacities of the electricity, water supply, and sewage infrastructure.

After the approval of the general plan, its maps will be made available in the geoinformation system of the Urban Planning Cadastre and on the website of the Tashkent city administration for public access.

“The head of our state emphasized the need to transform Tashkent into a major metropolis with favorable conditions for living and working for at least 7.5 million people,” the statement said.

The president has issued directives for the development of the Kibray, Zangiata, Yukorichirchik, Urtachirchik, and Tashkent districts of the Tashkent region based on a unified agglomeration with the capital.

Previously, Spot reported that housing renovation projects are planned in six districts of Tashkent.
