Of this amount, $33.7 billion (84%) is attributed to external debt. Out of this, $17.9 billion was raised at a fixed interest rate, while $15.64 billion was obtained at floating rates. However, detailed information regarding the composition of the debt and the interest rates on loans is not disclosed.
The domestic debt has risen to $6.5 billion, up from $5.9 billion at the beginning of the year. Of this total, $5.1 billion was raised at fixed interest rates, and $1.2 billion was provided interest-free.
Changes in the national debt over the past five years:
in 2019 – $17.8 billion;
in 2020 – $23.4 billion;
in 2021 – $26.3 billion;
in 2022 – $29.2 billion;
in 2023 – $34.9 billion.
Economist Otabek Bakirov commented on the current situation regarding the national debt.
"Per capita, the national debt has increased by more than $1,000, reaching $1,070 (compared to $949 as of January 1, 2024)," the economist stated in his Telegram channel.
Bakirov also notes that the largest portion of the debt was taken to support the budget ($15.3 billion).
