Authorities report that the high demand from neighboring countries, particularly Uzbekistan, along with attractive export prices, has led to a significant increase in export volumes.
Over the past year, potato exports have risen by 1.5 times—from 411,000 to 605,000 tons. At the same time, prices for producers focused on external markets have surged from 170 to 270 tenge per kilogram in just one week.
The restrictions will not affect exports to EAEU countries; however, shipments in this direction will be under strict control. Additionally, starting from January 16, the issuance of phytosanitary certificates for export has been suspended.
The government hopes that these temporary measures will help avoid a potato shortage in the domestic market and stabilize its price.
