The Competition Committee has instructed retail chains in Uzbekistan to ensure price stability for food products during the holiday season, according to the agency's press service.

Representatives from 8 retailers participated in a working meeting: b1, Baraka, Havas, Korzinka, Magnum, Makro, "Assorti," and "Magnit." The main topic was the analysis of factors affecting the prices of socially significant food products and measures for their stabilization.

Meeting participants discussed systemic issues in the food trade sector and the challenges of ensuring competition in retail. Committee staff highlighted the need to prevent unjustified price increases during periods of rising demand for products.

The Committee also issued directives to all 8 chains to promptly inform about potential price changes from suppliers and logistics costs, as well as other factors.

Previously, the Committee reached out to the people of Uzbekistan regarding discounts and sales, noting the prevalence of fake promotions. Entrepreneurs were reminded of the necessity to provide consumers with accurate information and their responsibility for violations.
