The Lithuanian transportation company Girteka Group is interested in entering the Uzbekistan market, as reported by the Ministry of Transport's press service.
On January 14, the first deputy head of the ministry, Mamanbi Oмаров, met with the company's co-founder, Edvardas Lyakhovichus. The parties discussed the implementation of new projects and opportunities for attracting investments into the local transportation and logistics system.
Girteka plans to establish a joint logistics center in Uzbekistan. Additionally, plans for training drivers and managers in international transport, as well as their retraining, were also considered.
At a meeting on January 11, Shavkat Mirziyoyev instructed the Ministry of Transport to develop alternative routes for foreign trade operations. Issues with cargo transportation to and from European countries were noted, related to restrictions on crossing borders.
As reported by the Minister of Transport, Ilkhom Makhkamov, the goal is to improve Uzbekistan's position in the logistics performance index from 88th to at least 55th place by 2030. There are also plans to create new logistics centers, TIR parks, and other facilities for carriers along international roads.
