The Malaysian company Meraque Group has signed an agreement with Uzbekistan to produce "smart" agricultural machinery, as reported by the Ministry of Agriculture's press service.

A delegation consisting of representatives from the ministry, the administrations of Tashkent and Kashkadarya regions, as well as agricultural enterprises, visited Malaysia as part of Shavkat Mirziyoyev's visit. The guests held discussions with various departments and companies on topics related to the implementation of agricultural technologies, fish farming, rice cultivation, silk production, and other areas.

Meraque plans to establish a manufacturing facility for machinery in the territory of the Research Institute of Agricultural Mechanization in the Yangiyul district. The future plant will be capable of producing unmanned aerial vehicles.

In the fall of 2024, Meraque and the Ministry of Agriculture signed a memorandum of cooperation in the field of agricultural technologies. It was reported then that the company plans to invest 20 million ringgits (approximately $4.7 million) in Uzbekistan.

The Center for Knowledge and Innovations in Agriculture has signed an agreement on rice cultivation with the Malaysian Institute of Agricultural Research Development. This agreement includes the exchange of rice varieties for experimental production.

The Fisheries Department of the Malaysian Ministry of Agriculture will assist "Uzbekbaliksanoat" in the intensive breeding of fish and shrimp. The parties plan to jointly implement the use of biofloc in aquaculture farms.

The Agricultural Marketing Agency has pledged to support the export of Uzbek silk, fruits, and vegetables. The Department of Islamic Development under the government (JAKIM) will participate in organizing training courses for farmers and agribusinesses on halal standards.

After this, the delegation also participated in the Uzbek-Malaysian business forum. The guests presented Uzbek rice varieties and plans in silk production, signing several additional agreements with Malaysian companies in the field of implementing agricultural technologies, improving yields, and introducing export-oriented crops.
