In October, the monthly increase in consumer prices was 0.84%. This figure reached a five-year low, as reported by the Statistics Agency.
Meanwhile, for the first ten months of the year, inflation stood at 7.7%. This is lower than the 2022 level (9.4%), but compared to 2023 (6.2%), there is a noticeable acceleration in price growth.
The annual inflation at the end of October was 10.24%, showing a slight slowdown compared to September. Nevertheless, it significantly exceeds last year's level.
Food prices increased by 1.1% in October. Vegetables rose by 2.8%, oil by 2.2%, and fruits by 1.9%, while seafood (-0.4%) and grains (-0.3%) became cheaper. Among specific products, cucumber prices surged by (+33%) and bell peppers by (+21.5%).
The overall food inflation for the year has slowed to 2.2%, with average prices being 1.4% lower than at the beginning of the year. The most significant increases were seen in meat (+9.8%) and fish (+7.1%), while the largest decreases were in vegetable prices (-7.6%), fruits (-7.4%), and dairy products (-2.8%).
Cabbage has become a third cheaper compared to last October, grapes by 30%, eggs by 23%, and eggplants by 22%. Meanwhile, garlic has increased by 45%, potatoes by 17.6%, and lamb by 12.3%.
Prices for consumer goods rose by 0.7% in a month, while annual inflation decreased slightly to 8.1%. Clothing and footwear saw minor price increases in October (0.5% and 0.6%, respectively), but the annual price growth remained virtually unchanged (5.4% and 5%).
Furniture prices remained relatively stable (0.4% for the month, 5.5% for the year), household appliances (0.5% and 6.3%), and electronics (0.3% and 1.6%). The price increase for medicines slowed to 1.1%, but year-on-year, it accelerated to 24.5%.
Gasoline prices rose by 1.5% in October, with an annual increase of 10.5%. Propane, after a spike in September, became more expensive by 1.2%, although the annual figure reached 48.6%.
Inflation in the services sector decreased to 0.8% in October, but the annual rate remained at 28.7%. In the catering sector, price growth slowed to 1.2% (annual 12.7%), while in the hospitality sector, it accelerated to 0.9% (18.9%).
Rent for housing increased by 1.9%, and the annual growth rose to 13.8%. Prices for transportation by road rose by 0.4% (10.4% year-on-year), while airline tickets became cheaper by 0.3% over the month, with an annual increase of 8.2%.
