As previously reported by Spot, on January 27, Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting regarding the state program project "Year of Environmental Protection and Green Economy." The General Prosecutor's Office will oversee the transition to solar panels and water heaters.

On January 28, Deputy General Prosecutor Shohrukh Aminov conducted an extended session of the Republican Headquarters for the Effective Organization and Coordination of State Control over the Use of Fuel and Energy Resources. Representatives from the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, "Uzenergoinspektsiya," "Regional Electric Networks," "Hududgazta'minot," and deputy khokims of regions participated in the meeting.

The meeting focused on the current efforts to prevent theft and conserve fuel and energy resources. In particular, the president instructed to install solar panels with a capacity of 600 MW at 100,000 facilities and 150,000 households.

To facilitate this, a working group is being formed on-site, consisting of representatives from local khokimiyats, the Customs Committee, "Uzenergoinspektsiya," commercial banks, sectoral state enterprises, and responsible agencies.

The Republican Headquarters also issued directives to identify additional sources of savings, to provide wholesale consumers with mandates for the installation of reactive batteries, and to conduct energy audits for 400 large consumers.

Moreover, responsible officials were criticized for the shortcomings that occurred and were warned about the need to fulfill and promptly address the assigned tasks within the established deadlines.

Recently, Energy Minister Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov announced plans to equip half of the rooftop areas of residential and utility buildings with solar panels and water heaters.

Earlier, Spot reported that in 2024, citizens sold solar electricity worth nearly $1 million.
