На границе Казахстана и Узбекистана планируется создать зону свободной торговли без пошлин.

A duty-free trade zone is set to be established at the Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan border.

Uzbekistan, Tashkent – According to Podrobno.uz, Nurdaulet Kilybay, the governor of Kazakhstan's Mangystau region, has proposed enhancing trade and economic cooperation with Uzbekistan's regions by establishing a duty-free trade zone at the border, as reported by a Podrobno.uz correspondent.

It is expected that it will operate based on the model of the Chinese-Kazakh complex "Khorgos." The opening of the trade and economic zone will not only quadruple the trade turnover between the Mangistau region and Uzbekistan but also significantly enhance trade relations between our countries.

With this and other proposals for expanding trade and economic ties, the official spoke on October 22 at the interregional forum of the governments of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan in Samarkand.

According to Nurdaulet Kilybay, a large portion of food products, vegetables, fruits, and dried fruits in the wholesale markets of the Mangistau region comes from the fields of Bukhara, Samarkand, Nukus, and Syrdarya. Approximately 250-300 trucks pass through the "Tazhen" customs post on the border with Karakalpakstan daily. Among them, 10% of the trucks bring 11,000 tons of goods to this region.

He also mentioned that one of Kazakhstan's largest wholesale distribution centers is ready to provide the necessary land and is awaiting concrete steps from Uzbek entrepreneurs. In this area, it is planned to establish a trade area "Made in Uzbekistan" and hold agricultural fairs.
