Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed proposals for enhancing healthcare quality and modernizing medical facilities on January 20, as reported by the president's press service.
It was noted during the meeting that at least 100 billion soms are allocated annually from the budget for purchasing modern equipment for hospitals. In 2024, foreign investments amounting to $200 million and grants of $94 million have been attracted to the sector, enabling the equipping of regional and district clinics with MRI and CT scanners.
Budget allocations for these purposes will increase to 200 billion soms this year. Additionally, it is planned to attract $370 million in foreign funding to the healthcare sector.
For the equipping of maternity facilities, $100 million is expected to be allocated from the Asian Development Bank. This funding will be used to purchase 6 ambulances and 21,000 units of medical supplies across 45 categories.
In the clinics of Karakalpakstan and Khorezm, equipment for treating cardiovascular diseases will be installed with the help of €30 million from KfW. Furthermore, KfW will allocate €13.5 million for the construction of a high-tech medical training center and dormitory in Termez.
The president instructed to ensure the professional development of doctors and medical staff for working with the new equipment. The need to utilize existing technology more effectively was emphasized—for instance, the average load on angiographs in the regions is only 34%.
To operate high-tech equipment in state medical institutions, initiatives for outsourcing and public-private partnerships are planned to be implemented.
