Shavkat Mirziyoyev is holding a meeting focused on the objectives for the social sector for 2025. This was reported by the president's press secretary, Sherzod Asadov.
The head of state pointed out bureaucratic challenges in obtaining social services and processing benefits. Applicants are required to provide more than 10 documents, including birth certificates, pension or student IDs, as well as bank cards.
All documents are set to be replaced by a single social card. Benefits and financial support will be credited to this card, which can also be used for free public transportation and to receive compensations for gas, electricity, and educational expenses.
The new system is planned to be launched in test mode in Tashkent and the Yangiyul district by July 1. By the end of next year, it should be operational throughout Uzbekistan.
The president first announced the issuance of social cards for benefits allocation, granting privileges, and social services in February of this year. Initially, the relevant system was intended to be launched on October 1, with plans to extend issuance to other regions in 2025.
The card will serve both as a payment method and as proof of vulnerable status. In addition to issuing these cards for needy families, plans were made to create a "social digital passport" that would reflect their needs and capabilities in real-time.
In July, the head of state signed a decree that aimed to start crediting pensions and other payments to social cards for new recipients starting December 1. From April 2025, it was planned to launch benefits for travel and discounts for purchasing tickets to events using social cards.
Previously, Spot reported that the Central Bank plans to introduce a limit on the issuance of bank cards per individual.
