A consortium of companies from South Korea has begun developing a feasibility study (FS) for the construction of a dedicated high-speed railway that will connect Tashkent and Samarkand. The corresponding agreement was signed today with the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Funding for this phase of the work will be provided by the Korean Export-Import Bank. The implementation of this ambitious project is expected to significantly reduce travel time between the two largest cities in Uzbekistan.

It is anticipated that the speed of trains on the new railway line will increase by 2.5 times compared to the existing one, allowing passengers to cover the distance between Tashkent and Samarkand in just 70-80 minutes.
