The supply of Turkmen gas to Uzbekistan will increase.

Uzbekistan, Tashkent – According to AN Podrobno.uz, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan and Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, have agreed to boost the supply of Turkmen natural gas to Uzbekistan. They also discussed the implementation of joint gas projects in the near future, as reported by a correspondent from Podrobno.uz.

This information emerged from a phone conversation between the leaders of the two countries.

The Turkmen state news agency "Golden Age" also reported that the leaders of the neighboring countries noted the high efficiency of their collaboration in the gas sector, emphasizing its long-term nature.

Berdymukhamedov and Mirziyoyev highlighted the significant prospects for the implementation of joint gas projects that are planned to be realized in the near future.

The press service of the President of Uzbekistan indicated that since the beginning of the year, the trade turnover between the countries, the majority of which consists of gas supplies, has exceeded one billion dollars.

It is worth recalling that Uzbekistan first signed a direct short-term contract with Turkmenistan for the supply of 1.5 billion cubic meters of gas in December 2022. In August 2023, Tashkent and Ashgabat signed a short-term contract for the supply of Turkmen gas amounting to up to 2 billion cubic meters per year.
