It has been reported that the former hokim of the Andijan district has been appointed to a new leadership position. Egamberdiev Abdujabbor Khusanovich, who was previously removed from office and sentenced to corrective labor for abuse of power and other violations, has managed not only to avoid actual prison time but also to make a career leap.
Despite the seriousness of the charges against him, the court imposed a relatively lenient punishment on Egamberdiev. In February 2023, he was sentenced to 2 years of corrective labor with a 20% deduction from his monthly salary going to the state and was barred from holding positions related to material responsibility and management for a period of 2 years. However, the judicial system demonstrated its flexibility by granting the convicted individual’s request for early removal of the additional penalty less than a year after the sentence was handed down.
The former hokim of the Andijan district has now been appointed as the chairman of the Andijan regional council of the Federation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan.
