A cluster for the cultivation and processing of fish products has begun operations in the Yangiyul district. More than 150 jobs have been created at the site, as reported by the hokimiat of the Tashkent region.
The "Khorrot" cluster, established in collaboration with Iran, covers an area of 264 hectares. The total cost of the project amounted to 126 billion soums ($9.98 million), which has enabled the production of 12 types of products.
Each year, the enterprise can cultivate up to 3,000 tons of fish, one-third of which will be processed on-site. The incubation workshops are designed to produce up to 100 million eggs and grow 10 million fry, and there are facilities for producing 6,000 tons of animal feed.
In the future, a zone for sport fishing and ecotourism covering 20 hectares is planned to be created on the cluster's territory. All fish ponds will be intensified, and Iranian technologies will be used for the construction of the pools.
Additionally, plans include the construction of a processing and storage workshop for finished products with a capacity of 1,000 tons. The annual export of products is expected to reach $5 million.
