As previously reported by Spot, on January 27, Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting regarding the state program titled "Year of Environmental Protection and Green Economy." The President urged a transition to a resource-saving economic model.

Energy Minister Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov, in an interview with the O’zbekiston 24 television channel, discussed the directive to develop projects for establishing new "green" power capacities of 1 GW in addition to the already planned 3.5 GW, and to commission around 3,000 small hydropower plants within two years.

“Instructions have been given to develop a program for the installation of solar panels and solar collectors (solar water heaters — ed. Spot) on at least 50% of the roof areas of residential and utility buildings,” stated the head of the Ministry of Energy.

According to him, the head of state instructed the development of a program for the energy efficiency of buildings, as well as for the savings and rational use of consumed electricity, natural gas, and thermal energy. The document also outlines the modernization of enterprises with low energy efficiency and the establishment of new capacities.

Earlier, Spot reported that since the beginning of January, the price of propane on the exchange has increased by more than 11%.
