The Deputy Head of the state company, Hikmatulla Rakhmetov, explained the price increase as necessary to cover losses associated with the "extreme unprofitability" of passenger transportation in Uzbekistan. In October, the head of UTY, Zufar Narzullaev, stated that Afrosiyob finished 2023 with a loss of 238 billion sums, highlighting the need to raise prices for travel on high-speed trains.

Earlier, Spot reported that the Afrosiyob train would make a stop in Katakurgan.
