The Ministry of Transport has clarified the procedure for paying fares on Tashkent buses starting January 1, 2025.

After this date, it is planned to discontinue the acceptance of cash payments by drivers. Instead, passengers will need to purchase single-use tickets through Paynet, MultiPay, or Oson info kiosks, which will be installed at or near bus stops.

“For quick and cost-effective fare payments, we recommend using electronic payment systems,” noted the Ministry of Transport.

At the end of November, the capital's khokimiyat published a draft resolution to increase public transport fare rates. The price of a single ticket is expected to rise to 3000 sums, while the cost for transporting oversized luggage will increase to 4000 sums.

Meanwhile, the price for passengers paying with a bank card or ATTO will be set at 1700 sums. New fare rates will also be introduced, linked to a specific number of trips.

The head of the Ministry of Transport, Ilkhom Makhkamov, mentioned in October the plans to eliminate cash payments on Tashkent buses. Instead, info kiosks for purchasing tickets with QR codes are planned to be installed at bus stops, and devices for scanning these codes will be placed inside the buses.

Previously, Spot reported on the proposal to impose fines for driving in bus lanes.
