Starting April 2025, pharmacies and clinics in Uzbekistan will be required to pay VAT.
Uzbekistan, Tashkent – According to AN Podrobno.uz, starting from April 1, 2025, pharmacies and medical institutions in Uzbekistan will be required to pay value-added tax (VAT), regardless of their income levels. This measure is stipulated in the presidential decree issued on December 27.

Tax authorities will automatically generate VAT reports using data from virtual cash registers, receipts, electronic invoices, and other sources.
Furthermore, the authorities plan to abolish the excise tax on polyethylene raw materials used in the production of medicines. Currently, the excise rate is 10%.
The draft law is expected to be developed by March 2025, after which it will need to go through the approval stage by parliament and the president.
