Sara Raza has been appointed as the artistic director of the Contemporary Art Center in Tashkent.

Sara Raza has been appointed as the Artistic Director and Chief Curator of the Contemporary Art Center (CCA) in Tashkent, reports the CCA press service. The center is set to open in September of this year.
Sara Raza, originally from London and currently residing in New York, is a curator of international exhibitions, a writer, and an educator with over 20 years of experience. She has gained international recognition for her expertise in contemporary art and her ability to connect various artistic disciplines. She has worked across Asia, the Caucasus, the Middle East, Europe, and North America.
Raza has held positions as curator of the Guggenheim's Global Art Initiative UBS MAP and has curated exhibitions at leading institutions such as Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art and the Rubin Museum of Art. She is the author of the book "Punk Orientalism: Art of Rebellion," which highlights an innovative approach to rethinking art and spatial practices in Central Asia and beyond.
"As Artistic Director and Chief Curator, Raza will play a pivotal role in shaping the Center's mission, aimed at fostering cultural and educational partnerships, supporting local and international artists, and deeply engaging with Uzbekistan's rich cultural heritage," the statement reads.
