According to the rankings, following the matches against Iran (0:0) and the UAE (1:0) last month, the Uzbekistan national team climbed two spots to secure the 58th position. In November, after facing Qatar (2:3) and North Korea (1:0), they maintained their previous ranking in the new list.
It is noteworthy that the 58th position is the best result for our team in the last 8 years. Previously, the "White Wolves," under the guidance of Samvel Babayan, held the 48th spot in the FIFA rankings in 2016.
The year 2023 saw the team, coached by Srechko Katanec, finishing in 68th place, but after the Asia Cup in Qatar, they climbed to 66th. Following victories in the 2nd qualification round of the 2026 World Cup against Hong Kong (2:0, 3:0), the Uzbekistan national team secured a place in the decisive qualification round for the 2026 World Cup and the 2027 Asia Cup, moving up to 64th in the rankings. After matches against Turkmenistan (3:1) and Iran (0:0) in the 2nd qualification round for the 2026 World Cup, our representatives rose two more spots to occupy the 62nd position.
In the FIFA rankings, Argentina is in 1st place, while France holds the 2nd position. Spain, which became the European champion, moved up from 8th to 3rd last month. England is in 4th place, Brazil in 5th, and Portugal in 6th. The top ten also includes the Netherlands (7), Belgium (8), Italy (9), and Germany (10).
Among the top 10 Asian teams, our footballers are ranked 7th. Japan, the continent's leader, is in 15th place in the FIFA rankings, with Iran (18) and South Korea (23) rounding out the top three. The top ten includes Australia (26), Qatar (48), Iraq (56), Uzbekistan (58), Saudi Arabia (59), UAE (63), and Jordan (64).
For reference, the best result for the Uzbekistan national team in the FIFA rankings was 45th place, which they held in 2006-2007.
