Uzbekistan has received a grant from the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (EDA) to study the digital literacy of its population. This was reported by the IT Education Association to Spot.

The grant agreement between the association and EDA was signed at the Swiss Embassy in Tashkent. It aims to develop the IT landscape and provide training in digital skills to ensure inclusive growth.

The grant amount will be $149,655 (approximately 2 billion sums). The funds will be used to analyze the state of digital skills among Uzbeks, identify in-demand professions, and create a resource aggregator platform in the field of IT education.

Gaps in skills related to digital technologies will be analyzed. Based on this data, it is planned to revise adapted educational programs and enhance the qualifications of young specialists.

The target audience for the study will include rural residents, low-income citizens, youth, women, and people with disabilities. Special attention will be given to their employment in the digital sector.

The Minister of Digital Technologies, Sherzod Shermatov, also held talks with EDA representative Andrin Fink in Uzbekistan. The parties discussed the development of IT education in Uzbekistan and plans for implementing new cooperation projects.
