As previously reported by Spot, on October 15, Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting regarding the socio-economic development of the Tashkent region.
Despite the abundance of land and water, the average income per hectare in the capital region is lower than in other areas. Over the past three years, more than 21,000 hectares of land have been allocated for agriculture to 57,000 residents. Their export volume reached $72 million, which is lower than last year's figures.
Due to the inefficiency of 2,200 hectares of orchards and vineyards, exports worth $10 million are lost annually. The capital region ranks last in the implementation of water-saving technologies, as noted in the meeting.
Due to these and other shortcomings, the first deputy hokim of the region for agriculture, Botir Alimbekov, has been relieved of his duties.
Based on a new system of horticulture, plans are underway to establish raspberry and blueberry plantations in the foothills of Akhangaran and Bostanlyk, as well as vineyards and cherry orchards in Parkent and Akhangaran. In Angren, pomegranate juice production will be set up, and plum processing will be organized in the Akhangaran district.

This year, families in the Tashkent region will be provided with an additional five thousand hectares of land for agriculture and horticulture.
The president instructed to make the capital region exemplary in horticulture and to increase exports to $300 million.
Furthermore, the head of state did not approve the program aimed at lifting 116,000 people out of poverty in the region. Tashkent region ranks last in employment through small businesses.
Of the available 12,000 job vacancies, 2,000 are related to unskilled work. However, instead of attracting the unemployed to these positions, they are paid unemployment benefits amounting to 4 billion sums annually.
The first deputy hokim of Tashkent region for economy and finance, Erkin Mukhtidinov, has been dismissed due to "shortcomings in operations and unsatisfactory work on the ground."
Throughout the year, the task was set to ensure the employment of 27,000 low-income individuals based on the experience of Saykhunabad, 8,500 based on the experience of Zarbdor, 39,000 based on Uych's experience, and 10,000 based on the experience of Gijduvan. As a result of allocating 1 trillion sums in concessional loans and 32 billion sums in subsidies for small business projects, 30,000 people will be engaged in entrepreneurial activities.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev pointed out the potential to attract 10 million tourists to the capital region and instructed to formulate projects worth $1.5 billion for the next year. The high prices for tourist services are attributed to demand exceeding supply, the president emphasized.
Earlier, Spot reported that an "industrial triangle" would emerge in the Tashkent region.
