Every week leading up to the elections reveals that our country has established a system of televised debates during prime time. Last Friday, the second round of debates took place. Once again, it was live – simply fantastic. As screenwriters say, nothing can be hidden: “the smart will show themselves as smart,” and I won’t elaborate further; after all, the penalty for insult hasn’t been lifted.

Let’s take a look at what esteemed experts have to say:

A) Despite his ambiguity—every media personality should be somewhat ambiguous—Sh.Kudratkhodja once again demonstrated his professionalism and polish. He is exactly the kind of person we need in parliament. But we can’t have that; otherwise, who would lead the debates?

Undoubtedly, he managed to conduct the debates in such a way that the parliamentary candidates were able to share their programs: how they envision the processes of improving state governance and ensuring the rule of law. A genuine discussion took place, which is a credit to both the moderator and the participants.

The format was excellent.

B) Expert L.Yugai, who shares her thoughts on her social media page, notes that the second round of debates shows greater dynamism in the discussion and confidence among the speakers compared to the first round. From this, Lyudmila concludes that competition among parties has increased.

Makes sense.

C) F.Olimov, who watched the second debates live, offers an even more interesting perspective. He witnessed things that were not shown by the operators. A witness, in the best sense of the word.

According to his assessment, the debates featured “irreconcilable” disputes. He emphasized the third phase when candidates posed questions to each other. He writes that competitors attempted to “corner” each other with their questions, only to receive irony, surprise, and mockery in return. This reflects the liveliness of the ongoing debates, in contrast to the dull “friendly gatherings” on Friday evenings when everyone wants to go home.

Witness testimonies are always significant.

D) Lastly, we have the opinion of political scientist S.Juraev. He explicitly states that not only the local public is closely following the debates (and this is objective, as they are the ones voting on October 27), but also “our partners, friends in quotes.”

A fair conclusion, as their foreign opinions, the views of observers in a positive sense, influence the political assessment of our country by potential investors. As they say at customs, “either you build democracy yourself, or it is imported to you.” These debates demonstrated that representatives of political parties have well mastered and are applying democratic procedures. It’s no wonder that foreign observers are coming to us. S.Juraev accurately noted that “party activists were well-prepared for the debates,” which leads me to conclude that finally, political technologists have appeared in electoral headquarters, in the thirty-third year of Independence.

In conclusion, I will make the following observations. The level of debates is rising from one to the next. The activity of political parties is also increasing. Television professionals are increasingly employing proven foreign technologies to help viewers better understand the parliamentary candidates. The electoral theses of the parties are becoming more aligned with the lives of ordinary citizens. This is a positive development. As they say, a “boil,” if not addressed promptly, can lead to the sepsis of the entire body. The issues raised in these debates were indeed pressing. Therefore, there is hope that the future parliament will take on their resolution.

I believe that these second debates will be memorable for the public, and thus, parties have added extra percentage points to their votes. They influence the political atmosphere surrounding the elections. We currently lack precise data from special sociological surveys, but I think that representatives of UzLiDeP and the Ecological Party performed better on screen.

Read the experts covering the elections, and make sure to vote on October 27 consciously. This is beneficial not only for you but for the entire country as a whole.
