Транспортно-логистический центр в Термезе стал частью глобальной сети поставок ООН.

The transport and logistics hub in Termez has been integrated into the UN's global supply chain network.

Uzbekistan, Tashkent – According to Podrobno.uz, the international transport and logistics hub in Termez has been designated as a warehouse for the global supply network of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), as reported by a correspondent from Podrobno.uz.

The Termez hub was established in 2022 at the initiative of the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, to centralize the delivery of humanitarian aid to Afghanistan and other countries. In his speech at the 78th session of the UN General Assembly, he emphasized the importance of continuing humanitarian support for the Afghan people.

The global network of UNHCR includes warehouses in Amman, Dubai, Nairobi, Accra, Douala, Copenhagen, and Panama City. Each year, this infrastructure processes essential life-sustaining items—tents, blankets, kitchen sets, medications, and more—valued at over 500 million dollars.

The Termez center has become the eighth warehouse in the network, confirming its significance for the operational distribution of humanitarian cargo.

According to UN representatives, integrating the Termez hub into the global supply system will enhance the efficiency of humanitarian operations, reduce logistics costs, and accelerate emergency response. This decision will strengthen Uzbekistan's role as a key participant in international humanitarian initiatives.

In his address at the ceremonial event marking the hub's new status in Termez, the Special Representative of the President of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan, Ismatulla Irgashev, noted that it symbolizes international cooperation, reliability, and promptness. The transportation and logistics hub not only strengthens the humanitarian supply chain but also contributes to regional development by creating new opportunities and jobs.

It is worth mentioning that China has launched the first direct cargo railway route to Afghanistan through Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
