The Central Bank highlighted the ongoing trend of decreasing cash usage among the people of Uzbekistan.
Uzbekistan, Tashkent – According to AN Podrobno.uz, the volume of cash transactions in Uzbekistan reached 1.01 quadrillion sums last year. This figure represents a 22% increase compared to the previous year. At the same time, the Central Bank has noted a trend towards a reduction in the share of cash in the economy, alongside a growing preference for cashless payments, as reported by a correspondent from Podrobno.uz.

Out of the 840 trillion units that flowed into banks (a 26% increase), 501 trillion were in physical cash – a figure that grew by 21%. However, the proportion of cash in the overall influx decreased to 60%. In 2023, it was 62%, in 2022 – 66%, and in 2021 – 69%.
The share of cash in circulation dropped from 22.3% in 2023 to 19.2% by 2025.
At the same time, there is a growing popularity of cashless payments. In 2024, 1.03 quadrillion sums were credited to bank cards, which is 30% more than the previous year.
This trend also reflects the ongoing decline in the volume of cash withdrawals: from 2022 to 2024, the figure fell from 26.9% to 21.8%.
