Uzbekistan and Tanzania have signed an intergovernmental agreement on air communication, as reported by the press service of the Ministry of Transport.
Representatives from both countries held discussions at the ICAN 2024 conference in Kuala Lumpur on October 24. The Ministry of Transport noted that Tanzania has become a "completely new" destination for Uzbek airlines.
The agreement provides for 21 passenger flights per week. Additionally, unlimited cargo transportation between the countries is permitted.
Tanzania is viewed by Uzbek tourism companies as a promising destination for the development of transit tourism, particularly for flights to Zanzibar. Conversely, there are plans to organize pilgrimage tourism from Tanzania to Uzbekistan.
Previously, representatives of the Ministry of Transport formalized an agreement with the Civil Aviation Administration of Hong Kong. The launch of flights became possible due to the opening of a new runway at the airport in the special administrative region.
Earlier, Spot reported that Centrum Air is launching two new flights to the Middle East — to Salalah and Doha.
