The Minister of Digital Development, Sherzod Shermatov, announced the launch of the Uzbekistan Connect program, aimed at promoting the local tech sector abroad.

To implement this initiative, IT specialists and entrepreneurs of Uzbek origin working overseas, as well as foreign partners, will be involved. The primary goal of the program is to strengthen the republic's positioning as a "leading player in the digital economy."

Participants in the program will receive the status of "Tech Ambassadors." Their main tasks will include:

  • attracting investments and global IT companies to the local market;
  • supporting startups, facilitating their expansion abroad, and providing mentorship;
  • creating an international image for Uzbekistan's IT sector, showcasing its capabilities.

“Tech Ambassadors” will receive up to $10,000 annually to implement their initiatives. Additionally, they will have the opportunity to visit Uzbekistan twice a year at government expense for "strategic meetings."

Monthly, ambassadors will participate in online meetings with decision-makers in the IT sphere. They will also gain direct access to leading figures in the tech industry, investors, and key officials.

In April, a list of selected ambassadors is expected to be announced, who will visit Uzbekistan for their first meeting with Shermatov and the IT Park leadership in May. The number of spots is limited.
