The agency "Uzbekkosmos" will develop a national space program by 2035. This was announced on January 16 at a press conference at AIMK by the head of the aerospace activity development and space monitoring systems department, Mukiddin Ibragimov, as reported by a Spot correspondent.
For this purpose, "Uzbekkosmos" has engaged 4-5 consulting firms in the development of this document. The main goal of the strategy is to define the key vectors for the development of the space industry for the next 10 years. Specifically, it is planned to divide the strategy into short-term, medium-term, and long-term plans.
"These are issues related to data utilization, primarily remote sensing (RS) of the Earth, infrastructure development, as well as satellites and ground infrastructure for satellite navigation," said the head of the "Uzbekkosmos" department.
Mukiddin Ibragimov also stated that there will be a significant emphasis on education, with substantial investments directed into this area. "Uzbekkosmos" aims to develop and present the program by mid-2025.
In October, "Uzbekkosmos" agreed to collaborate with the American company SpaceX and the British Surrey Satellite Technology Ltd (SSTL). The foreign companies expressed their readiness to provide the agency with expert consultations on creating Uzbekistan's national space program.
On January 13, the president signed the law "On Space Activities," which was approved by the Oliy Majlis. In particular, space monitoring and Earth remote sensing will become the responsibilities of a special operator.
Earlier, Spot reported that Uzbekistan is in negotiations to deploy satellite remote sensing constellations.
