According to the data from the Statistics Agency, which was reviewed by Spot, Uzbekistan has significantly increased its gas imports over the past ten months.
From January to October, the import of blue fuel from Turkmenistan and Russia rose by 2.4 times, reaching $1.36 billion. Monthly natural gas supplies amounted to $86.7 million. As a result of last year, Uzbekistan transformed from a gas exporter to an importer for the first time in its post-independence history.
In the last month, exports of gas to China slowed down compared to September, dropping from $70.1 million to $60.9 million. Since the beginning of the year, supplies of blue fuel to the Middle Kingdom totaled $540.4 million (a 17.9% year-on-year increase).
However, the data from the Statistics Agency slightly differs from the figures provided by the General Administration of Customs of China, which states that Uzbekistan has exported gas worth $587.9 million since the beginning of this year, exceeding last year's figure by 25%.
Additionally, Chinese customs reports a slight decrease in the monthly volume of natural gas supplies from Uzbekistan, falling from a record $97.4 million in September to $88.93 million in October. Nevertheless, this still represents a 2.09 times increase compared to the corresponding figure for 2023.
Turkmenistan continues to lead in gas exports to China, having supplied blue fuel worth $8.07 billion since the start of the year. Russia follows in second place, increasing its gas exports by a quarter to $6.66 billion. Kazakhstan ($1.17 billion) and Myanmar ($1.15 billion) are next in line.
Earlier, Spot reported that "Hududgazta'minot" launched an app for monitoring and paying for gas.
