According to TASS infographics, China was the leader in gold production last year, with a total of 378.2 tons. Russia ranked second with 321.8 tons, followed by Australia with 293.8 tons.
The top ten largest producers of the precious metal also included Canada (191.9 tons), the USA (166.7 tons), Ghana (135.1 tons), Indonesia (132.5 tons), Peru (128.8 tons), and Mexico (126.6 tons).
Meanwhile, the largest exporter of gold last year was Switzerland. The country earned 107.2 billion dollars from exporting the precious metal abroad. The UK came in second with 65.3 billion dollars, and China was third with 44.4 billion dollars. Uzbekistan did not make the list of the largest exporters.
It is worth noting that Uzbekistan's gold and currency reserves reached a record high of over 43 billion dollars since the beginning of October.
