The Uzbekistan national team has won a gold medal at the Winter Asian Games for the first time in 26 years. The victory for the national team at the competition held in Harbin, China, was achieved by figure skaters Dmitry Chigirev and Ekaterina Geinish in the pairs event.

In the competition, the Uzbek pair Dmitry Chigirev and Ekaterina Geinish scored 176.43 points, achieving the best result and becoming champions of the Winter Asian Games.

The second place was taken by representatives from North Korea, Ryom Tae Ok and Han Kum Chol. The bronze medals went to the Japanese duo Yuna Nagao and Sumitada Moriguti.

This is the first medal for the Uzbekistan team at the current Asian Games. In the overall medal standings, China leads with 31 gold, 26 silver, and 22 bronze medals. Uzbekistan (1-0-0) is in fifth place behind South Korea (12-13-12), Japan (7-7-13), and Kazakhstan (3-7-5).

Uzbek athletes won a gold medal at the 1999 Asian Games in Gangwon, South Korea. At that time, Tatyana Malinina took first place in women's singles figure skating.
