The foreign ministers of Uzbekistan and China have signed an agreement that will allow citizens of both countries to travel visa-free for up to 30 days. This was announced by Uzbekistan's Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov.

The document was signed as part of the implementation of agreements reached between the heads of state during President Shavkat Mirziyoyev's official visit to China in May of last year.

“This is yet another step towards more intense exchanges, promoting trade, and strengthening ties between the peoples of our nations,” said Bakhtiyor Saidov.

The exact date when the visa-free regime will come into effect has not been specified.

The need to simplify the visa regime was discussed in late November during a meeting between representatives of the Uzbekistan embassy and the Consular Department of the Chinese Foreign Ministry in Beijing. At that time, the Chinese side noted the positive reforms in Uzbekistan.

Earlier, Spot reported that Uzbekistan had increased gas exports to China by a quarter since the beginning of the year.
