Uzbek politician Alisher Kadyrov opposed allowing parents to choose the language of instruction for their children in schools.

Alisher Kadyrov, the leader of the "Milliy Tiklanish" party, made a statement regarding the current system of language selection for education in Uzbekistan's schools. According to him, the existing practice, where parents decide on the language of instruction, infringes on the rights of the children themselves. Kadyrov emphasized that a child should have the opportunity to learn in their native language, as it is a fundamental factor for successful knowledge acquisition and holistic development.

He argued that learning in a non-native language often creates additional challenges for students, which can negatively impact their academic performance and limit future opportunities. In Kadyrov's view, a mistake in choosing the language of instruction can lead to difficulties in understanding the educational material, hinder the learning process, and consequently reduce the quality of education.

Alisher Kadyrov reached out to the children's ombudsman with several proposals to reconsider the current approach to language selection for education. He urged that the child's opinion be taken into account when making decisions about the language of instruction, granting them a voice in this important matter.

The party leader expressed confidence that such changes would help create more favorable conditions for children's development and ensure equal opportunities for receiving quality education.
