The leader of the "Milliy Tiklanish" party, Alisher Kadyrov, made a statement regarding the need for legislative regulation of the use of the Uzbek language in outdoor advertising. In his Telegram channel, the politician highlighted the widespread presence of signs, announcements, and indicators in foreign languages, including those using alphabets different from the Uzbek one, in the cities of Uzbekistan, starting from the capital. Kadyrov labeled this phenomenon as a "serious problem," emphasizing the importance of prioritizing the state language in public communications.
According to the leader of "Milliy Tiklanish," all outdoor inscriptions should be made in the Uzbek language. Duplication of information in other languages is permissible when necessary; however, the state language must remain primary. Kadyrov announced the commencement of developing a bill titled "On Outdoor Inscriptions" by the party.
In his statement, the politician called for a reassessment of the attitude towards the Uzbek language as a "paramount national value." He pointed out the need for entrepreneurs, commercial property owners, and government bodies to demonstrate respect for the state language. According to Kadyrov, a special responsibility lies with these entities regarding compliance with the future law. The leader of "Milliy Tiklanish" also urged the public to take a principled stand on this issue.
The politician's statement has sparked mixed reactions on social media, dividing users into supporters and opponents of the initiative. Some social media users described Kadyrov as a "provocateur," while others refer to him as the "guardian" of Uzbek culture.
