New objectives have been set for the further development of the region. Meetings were held with the local population and entrepreneurs, during which the possibility of implementing 120 projects worth 4.1 billion dollars was identified. In particular, next year, it is planned to attract investments amounting to 1.8 billion dollars within the framework of regional programs in the Samarkand region, create 20,000 jobs, and additionally produce goods worth 1.2 trillion sums.
Specifically, in the territory of the village of Chimboyobod in the Pastdargom district, a special industrial zone is proposed to be established on 234 hectares of land reserved by the hokimiyat. Entrepreneurs expressed their readiness to invest 500 million dollars into this zone and initiate projects in pharmaceuticals, chemistry, electrical engineering, construction materials, and the food industry.
It was noted that including 25 hectares of rocky land around the Zarafshan River into the free economic zone "Urgut" would allow for the realization of projects worth 30 million dollars. In the first phase, projects worth 500 billion sums are also planned, which will involve the organization of a 35-kilometer tourist route along the Dargom Canal and a gastronomic bridge over the Narpay Canal.
The meeting discussed the feasibility of turning pastures and rain-fed lands in the region into an economic asset. For example, in the Samarkand district, a tourist-recreational zone could be established on 350 hectares of rain-fed land, accommodating a thousand entrepreneurs and creating 3,500 jobs.
"The soil and climate of Bulungur are favorable for horticulture. If 6,000 hectares of low-efficiency grain fields in the region are specialized for growing horticultural products, the income from each hectare will exceed 10,000 dollars, providing employment for 45,000 people. Half of the products will be exported, generating an additional export revenue of 52 million dollars," it was mentioned during the meeting.
It was also proposed to create a research station of the Scientific Institute of Horticulture and Viticulture in Ishtikhan. This station will focus on growing seedlings using the in vitro method and cultivating market-demanded grape varieties such as "Giant," "Sirliboy," and "Avatar." It is forecasted that yields will increase by 25-30%, and exports will rise by 20 million dollars.
Based on the deposits in Koshrobota, Ishtikhan, Nurabad, Pastdargom, Pakhtachi, and Urgut, it has been proposed to open enterprises for the processing of mineral resources.
