In Uzbekistan, the Competition Committee has mandated several companies to refund 22.5 billion sums due to unlawful charges.

Uzbekistan, Tashkent – According to Podrobno.uz, the Committee for Competition Development and Consumer Rights Protection has uncovered instances of illegal price increases for heat energy and waste disposal services. As a result of the measures taken, over 22.5 billion sums have been refunded to consumers and organizations, while the companies at fault have been fined and held accountable.

During the inspections, it was revealed that Navoiy Thermal Power Station received 4.5 billion sums by selling thermal energy to "Issiklik Manbai" at inflated prices. Following the investigation, the antimonopoly authority initiated a case, fined the company, and ordered the return of the funds. Since the enterprise failed to comply with the order within the deadline, the case was referred to court. As a result, the money was returned.

In the Namangan region, the companies Namangan Musaffo Iqlim and Toza Hudud illegally charged over 18 billion sums for unprovided waste disposal services to one million consumers. The Competition Committee mandated a recalculation of payments and the rectification of violations.

Thus, after the measures taken, a total of 22.5 billion sums that were unlawfully charged were returned, and the offenders were held accountable.
